Peptide Identification

Peptide identification determines which peptide, from a pre-defined list of peptides, is created the mass spectrum. In this sense, it is similar to peptide sequencing, which determines which peptide, of all possible, created the mass spectrum.

When using a large database of matches for identification (such as uniprot), it’s important to keep false discovery and contamination in mind.
